AFTER 60 years of wedded bliss Victor and Belle Halliwell have revealed that their marriage is going to the dogs!
Dog racing lover Belle, aged 79, used to own a greyhound called Red Marine in 1969. She said: “I just fell for Vic – he was like a film star.
Last night Perry Barr Dogs named a race “Belle & Victor Halliwell Diamond Wedding Anniversary” and the husband and wife presented the winning owners with their trophy.
The couple, who have a 55-year-old son called John, won a weekend break anywhere on earth in 2006.
But they opted to make the short trip from their Erdington home to stay at the Burlington Hotel, in New Street, where they spent their first night of married life.

Greyhound attacks leaves a dog with neck and side injuries

A dog was left with neck and side injuries after a greyhound attacked it during a walk.

The incident took place in Hogshill Lane, Cobham, at about 9.15am on Sunday, March 18.

A woman in her 60s was walking her dog when greyhound launched its attack and the greyhound’s owner, a white man in his 40s, left after refusing to provide contact details.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “Surrey Police is reminding dog owners that they have a duty to keep their animals under control in a public place.

The spolesman for surrey police has said that: “Dog owners should also be aware that if they are found guilty of having a dog that is out of control, they may face a £1,000 fine and/or imprisonment and could be banned from owning a dog in future.”

Injured greyhound found and given a home

Former racing greyhound grace was found roaming in a bush last month and had two large cuts on her chest and her leg but fortunately she was found and taken to Rotorua SPCA where she was stitched up by a vet.

Grace has now been welcomed into a new home which is perfect for her as the owner has another greyhound dog that was rescued in the past. The two dogs are getting along very well.

The owner said that as soon as they met they clicked and had a great connection. He also said that grace was suitable for their family and fitted in well.
